PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
Why we do what we do
Our Mission Statement:
Share the Gospel in New and Engaging Ways.
Our Mission Field:
The Bible makes it clear that our mission field is the entire world, but we have chosen to strategically focus on children and their families. According to a study done by Barna, the vast majority of people who make a profession of faith do so before they turn eighteen. Children and teens are the most receptive to the Gospel.
We are Missionaries
Our primary motivation is seeing lives changed through the power of Jesus Christ. I am not a professional juggler or a magician, and I do not charge a fee for our programs. Instead, I offer the Gospel, free of charge.
As missionaries, all of our needs are met by God and the generosity of his people. A team of partners financially supports what God is doing through our ministry.
God provides everything we need, but this does not negate our need for hard work. We actively network to find new opportunities to share the Gospel. A lot of these new opportunities are at smaller churches that cannot afford to bring someone in or keep someone on staff who does what we do.
We are narrow in our message and broad in our reach
I Corinthians 2:2 "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."
Using a wide variety of stories from the Bible, we point every lesson back to Jesus. We focus on the essentials of the Gospel: the reality of sin, the sufficiency of God's grace, and our response through faith.
Particulars like baptism and spiritual gifts are left to the discretion of the church. Sharing the Gospel in a wide range of denominations like Paul, we try to become all things to all men that by any means some might believe. By focusing on the essentials, we are able to reach a much wider range of people while not compromising our message to suit our audience.
We are one small part of the Body of Christ
The Body of Christ (The Church) is the hope of the world. We believe every person has a role to play in our joint mission of making disciples of all nations. Through various events, we create a space where people can start life changing relationships. Outreach events introduce people to the love of Jesus and encourage them to begin or renew their relationship with Him.
Encouraging the relationship between children and the volunteers and staff of the church we are serving is our primary discipleship focus. Engage Outreach Ministries could not exist or operate apart from the local church.
We are Relationally focused
Life change happens in the context of relationships, whether those relationships last a week or a lifetime. Engaging events can act as a draw for new people, introducing them to a context where they are able to build life changing relationships both with God and other believers.
Before and after a program, we strive to be available to connect with people in a relational way. Through social media we can continue to be available and relational to people seeking discipleship.
Relationships are easier and more effective in person and therefore during an invitation local volunteers talk with people in a one on one context. At camps, we let counselors take a leading role in working with the campers.
Some churches bring us in before an event to train volunteers on how to share the Gospel effectively with children. We love being able to share our passions and gifts with those who will be working closely with children and families after we leave an event.
We are long-term focused
We believe that the ministry and vision God has given us is far bigger than us. We have taken some strategic steps to ensure the sustainability of this ministry. The first step was the formation of a non-profit 501C3.
Rather than operate independently, we have recruited a board of directors that provide wise council, vision, and accountability. The more people who are invested in this ministry, the greater the chance that it will stand the test of time. Our financial partners also broaden our base and strengthen us with their prayers.
We are just beginning this ministry but we are already thinking about how we can train other people to share the Gospel in new and engaging ways. We plan to recruit missionaries in the future and equip them to replicate what we are building.
